On June 16, the recently acquired St. Vincent's Medical Center in Fresh Meadows, Queens, was renamed the Dr. Andrew J. Bartilluci Center, in honor of the Dean Emeritus of the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Studies at St. John's University. Dr. Bartilluci, who attended St.
St. John's recently began a complete overhaul of its Queens' campus, with numerous renovations taking place and new additions to the campus currently being planned. The renovations already started with Newman Hall, where pipes are being replaced because of frequent leaks and aging.
St. John's University's class of 2007, along with family and friends, celebrated Commencement on May 13. The graduating class included 2,577 students graduating with either undergraduate or graduate degrees. The event began at 1:30 p.m. with the procession of graduates.
The Discover New York course offered at St. John's University recently announced changes to the program aimed at connecting classroom learning with the freshman college experience. Discover New York is a part of St. John's University's core curriculum, which is mandatory for all first-year students entering the University.
Representatives from the St. John's Staten Island campus and Wagner College were on hand mid-May in Staten Island to sign an agreement allowing students from both schools to get a taste of the other's study abroad programs. However, this is not St. John's first collaboration with the Staten Island based Wagner.
The Department of Fine Arts' Annual Art Exhibition was on display from May 10 to June 21 in the Dr. M. T. Geoffrey Yeh Art Gallery, located in Sun Yat Sen Hall. The gallery, which first opened in September 1994, showcases all forms of contemporary art and holds seven exhibitions throughout the year, including the student showcase.
St. John's College of Professional Studies will offer new majors and minors to its students this upcoming year in the areas of Computer Security, Cyber Forensics, Information Technology, and Telecommunications and Networking. Through these new majors and minors, St.
