St. John's women's basketball was outplayed at home Tuesday night against Baylor, falling by a score of 81-58
Baylor put on an offensive clinic, shooting 52.6 percent from the field. The lady Red Storm went into the half down by only ten points, but their offensive struggles continued into the second half. With Baylor turning up the heat on defense, the Storm landed only nine buckets in the second half, connecting on only 30 percent of their shots.

Tiina Sten and Kia Wright led the team in scoring with 13 points each, and Wright's six points on foul shots propelled her into the record books as St. John's all-time free throw leader with 341. Monique McLean had 11 points, and reached double figures for the 10th game this season.

"Baylor is an excellent team. I thought at times we played well, and at times they were better at what we wanted to do. They are a quality program and it was a good game to get us ready for the Big East," said Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico. "It was a test for us. They have a really good, quality program and they let us know where we stand. We need to get better at some things."

The loss puts St. John's at 8-4, and leaves them with only one more non-conference game against Morgan State before Big-East competition begins.
