To the Editor:

The otherwise excellent letter by Tom Alciere of Underage Drinkers Against Drunk Driving in the February 20 edition was flawed only in its failure to remind students that the only reason the drinking age was raised and young people are scapegoated in regard to drunk driving is because they don't vote, and therefore politicians don't feel the need to respond to their concerns.
This is an election year and a lot of noise is already beng made about the "youth vote." If people who cared about this issue spoke up when canditates or political organizations come to campuses, or complained to media when they publish slanted stories on the subject, it might help give some legislators the nonliquid courage they need to abolish these unfair laws and endless "crackdowns."
Older folks should speak up too, since most of us are former "underage" drinkers.

To the Editor:

A pro-life bumper sticker reads "Women DO Regret Abortion." The Silent No More Awareness campaign exists to let women know what damage and heartache abortion can cause in their lives. Why take it from them? Because the women in the Silent No More Awareness campaign have gone through the trauma of abortion. They exist to let the women out there today know that abortion hurts women and that there are many lies being told by Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry today.
This group of women tells how many of them were not "free" in their choice to have an abortion. They felt forced into it by others or circumstances. So this should contradict what abortion advocates claim to be a "right to choose." This group also exists to let women and men know that there is healing after abortion and they tell you how you can reach that inner peace again. Repentance and turning to God is at the forefront.
So before you make the terrible mistake of having an abortion, please go to silentnomoreawareness.org, and you can read testimonies of the spiritual, emotional, and pyhsical harm that abortion has had on lives. If pregnant and don't know where to turn or whom to go to, call 1-800-395-HELP and visit the the previosly mentioned Web site for guidance.
When you vote at the upcoming elections, please vote for life! Vote no to abortion, euthanasia and embryonic stem-cell research.
