St. John's students took center stage in Marillac Auditorium on Nov. 14 for a charity talent show to raise awareness on global genocide. The event was called "Perform for Peace" and was organized by STAND, the national Student Anti-Genocide Coalition. The show featured more than a dozen students who sang, danced, recited poetry and step-danced.
The opening of renovated Carnesecca Arena and the unveiling of the revamped library in recent weeks close the book on two of the main construction projects from this summer. "We had a very busy summer with those projects," said Ibi Yolas, executive director of Design and Construction.
Campus Ministry is sponsoring a number of activities to raise awareness about world hunger this month. These activities, which include everything from fundraisers and educational programs to service projects are being held all this month since November is Hunger Awareness Month.
A St. John's professor is ranked second on Rate My Professor's list of the top 50 professors in the nation for 2008, which comes out today. Joyce-Boland-DeVito, a business law professor in the College of Professional Studies ranked only behind Randy Bott, a religion professor at Brigham Young University, on the Web site's end of the year standings.
More than 1,400 students participated in an online survey to help select a musical act for an upcoming campus concert. The poll, posted on St. John's Central from Nov. 7-15, asked students to vote on musical acts they would like to see headline the annual spring concert.
