The St. John’s men’s golfteam closed out the season instrong fashion, as the Red Stormwon their second consecutiveteam championship with theirfirst place finish at the PrincetonInvitational on Saturday.
The Johnnies shot a masterful583 over the shortened tworoundevent. The third and finalround was canceled due to thecrippling Noreaster, which brutalizedmuch of the east coastwith several inches of rain andwind gusts up to 40 mph.
Junior co-captain KeeganBradley took second place, finishingtwo-under par at 140. Hewas just two strokes shy of firstplace, which went to JohnSawin of Princeton. Bradleycarded a four-under par, shooting67 in round one and a twooverpar 73 in round two.
Junior George Zolotas andsophomore Kevin Velardohelped seal the victory withtheir top 20 performances, finishingwith a score of 148 each.
Both Zolotas and Velardo fairedbetter in the second round of theevent, as the second-yearVelardo posted a one-under parwith a score of 70 and Zoltascarded a 72.
Freshmen Mike Ballo Jr.and Dan Mollicone finishedwith a score of 151 and 152,respectively.
