Many athletic programs nationwide have limited the printing of media guides due to impending NCAA legislation to cut costs and “go green.”
Earlier this month, theSt. John’s Athletic Departmentunveiled a series ofinteractive video features onRedStormSports.com called”Inside St. John’s.” Beginningwith men’s and women’s basketball, the video series gave alumni, fans, media, benefactors and others a behind-the-scenes look at all things Red Storm.
“The launch of the ‘Inside St. John’s’ Web sites keeps us on the cutting edge of anever-changing medium,” St.John’s Athletic Director ChrisMonasch said. “The sites will assist us in our efforts to ‘go green’ and contain costs, and will also help us reach an even greater audience by giving these products a permanent online home.”
Each “Inside St. John’s” page contains links to rosters and biographies, schedules,ticket information, archivedvideo, athletic traditions andto social networking affiliateslike Twitter and Facebook.
Featurettes include a tour of Taffner Field House with Quincy Roberts of the men’s basketball team and a walk through Carnesecca Arena with Sky Lindsay of the women’s basketball team.
In the coming weeks, other “Inside St. John’s” pages will be launched, for baseball, softball, lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, cross country, and track and field,
