St. John’s Men’s Golf Concludes Fall Season

St. Johns men’s golf team capped off its fall season this past Tuesday at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate tournament in Bridgeport, West Virginia. With some stellar play from around the club, the Johnnies were able to place 14th overall at theconclusion of the 2-day event.

Leading the way this year were freshmen Seung Yub Baek and Troy Evans.

On day one of the tournament, Baek , the Arcadia High School alum, set the pace for St. John’s, as he registered a 77 (+5) . Baek was able to finish tied for 35th at the conclusion of Monday’s competition.

Also helping the Red Storm were fellow freshmen Jonathan Spicci and Troy Evans. Spicci was able to record a 78 (+6) while his teammate closely followed with  a 79 (+7) through the first 18 holes. With good play from both, St. John’s was able to finish in solid position at 14th overall heading into Tuesday’s finale.

Evans increased his play on the second day of the tournament, improving his score from 79 to 77, totaling 156 (+120).

Seung continued his fine play by posting a 79 on day two and then capped off the tournament with a 77-79-156 (+12) overall.The Red Storm were also aided with a strong effort from Michael Conforti who shot 6 points higher in the latter part of the tournament finishing with an 85-79—164 (+20).

In the end the Johnnies finished the tournament 15th overall,and with many freshmen leading the way, this was a strong outing for the team as they head into the next part of their season.
