Daly chosen to England’s senior national team

After a season in which Rachel Daly became the talk of women’s collegiate soccer because of her goal scoring abilities, she’s reached new heights. On Wednesday, Daly was selected to be join England’s senior national team in January for training camp in La Manga, Portugal.

The achievement marks Daly’s first call up to be apart of England’s senior women’s team. This beginning of the year training camp has become an important part of the schedule for England’s women’s soccer team. This year’s camp has added importance, as England will be squaring off in a friendly match against Norway on January 17th.

In 2008 Daly was selected to be apart of England’s U-17 FIFA team, a tournament that England place fourth in. Daly also has played for England’s U-15, U-17, and U-19 team’s.

Scoring a school record 23 goals, tied for the NCAA lead, and amassing another school record of 50 points, tying her for second in the country, highlighted Daly’s impressive season. Daly also was a major reason for St. John’s run into the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Daly was also the first player in St. John’s History to earn NSCAA All-American honors as she was selected to the second-team. To go along with her All-American Honors, Daly was chosen as the Big East Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Year.
