The St. John’s cross country team finished 35th in the NCAA Northeast Regional championships this past weekend in Boston, Mass.

The finish was the team’s worst this year overall.

Rakibat Abiola was the second among St John’s runners, finishing in 226th place with a time of 25:26.8. Abiola, a freshman from Staten Island, beat her old personal best by 40 seconds.

Junior Kristen Levy made a big improvement as well, by clocking in at 25:53.5 and beating her personal record by 42 seconds.

But the biggest improvement by far was by Thamara Cherisme.

She finished in 25:57.5, shaving almost a minute off her old personal record.

Tara Normandin finished in 252nd with a time of 27:38.1 and Dominique Ficalora was the seventh Red Storm runner to finish.
