Men’s Basketball
Pittsburgh (20-1, 6-1) became the nation’s first 20-win team thisseason, as it defeated Boston College (13-7, 2-5) 68-58 onSaturday.

The Panthers have won 31 of its last 33 and 39 of its last 43games. The win also increases its home winning streak to 38.

Connecticut (17-3, 5-1) kept right behind Pittsburgh in thestandings with two huge road wins at Virginia Tech (8-10, 1-6) andat Boston College.

The Huskies blew out the Hokies on Wednesday, winning 96-60,Virgina Tech’s worst loss this season. The win against the Eaglesdid not come as easily for the Huskies, as they only scored 63points and had no starter reach their season average.

Rounding out the top five in the Big East are Providence (14-4,5-2), Syracuse (14-3, 4-2), and Seton Hall (14-4, 4-2). Providencegot upset at home by Seton Hall, 55-46 on Sunday.

Syracuse was a 76-64 winner over Virginia Tech on Saturday. TheFriars and Orangemen will battle on Sunday for the third spot inthe standings, while the Pirates have upcoming contests Seton Hallhas games against West Virginia and Rutgers.

Women’s Basketball
The No. 4 ranked Connecticut women (7-1, 16-2) continued itsdominance over the conference this week with two blowout wins atVirginia Tech (16-4, 5-4) 68-50 and at home against the Red Storm.The win was the eleventh game this season that the Huskies defeatedits opponent by at least 24 points.

West Virginia (15-5, 6-2) and Notre Dame (13-7, 6-2) are rightbehind the Huskies, both of which had two outstanding wins thisweek.

WVU defeated Georgetown (10-9, 4-5) 70-61 on Wednesday andblewout Pittsburgh (6-12, 2-6) 56-36 on Saturday.

Notre Dame won at No. 16 ranked Miami (16-3, 5-3) 59-50 onWednesday and squeaked out a win on Saturday 52-50 against BostonCollege (14-5, 4-4).

Rutgers (12-7, 4-3) are on a hot streak going 4-1 in its lastfive games, its only loss coming via the Huskies back on Jan.19.
