Dating Done Right

Going on a date, regardless of how long you have known the person, can be nerve-racking. An infinite number of questions run through your mind: is the food stuck in my teeth? Am I are trying too hard? One thing daters may also be stressed about is choosing the right place to go.

It is nice to know, however, that there are several places you can take that special someone, regardless of whether you are on a first date or if you have been married for 10 years.

Let’s say it is your first date, and you want to impress him or her without dishing out too much money, take that special someone to SUSHISAMBA, a great, trendy and upscale restaurant in New York City, located on 245 Park Ave. South and 87 Seventh Ave. SUSHISAMBA is a “fusion restaurant,” allowing patrons to mix ethnic dishes from different countries. At this one-of-a-kind restaurant, customers will find a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian dishes. Plates range from $7.50 to $43.00 (which are sharable). You can view the menu and more information at sushisamba.com.

“Any place you could get a good meal for $10 is good! I recommend SUSHISAMBA for any two people dating,” said 23-year-old Erin Hartley.

Now, for those who have been dating for quite some time, try Shiro’s of Japan in Westbury, Long Island. If you want to spice up your relationship, Shiro’s of Japan is not only a fun place to dine, but a place where you will definitely get a “bang for your buck.” Expect to spend $12 to $20 per plate, but also expect an excellent show. This restaurant serves its cuisine hibachi, where the food is prepared right before your eyes by your very own cook. This adds flavor and excitement to your dining experience.

For the serious couples who are seeking romance, try One if by Land, Two if by Sea. Recognized as one of New York’s most romantic restaurants, this particular place is pricey, but also extraordinary. Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to reignite the sparks if you feel like your relationship is stuck in a rut. This cozy restaurant’s warm fireplaces, fresh flowers and live piano music will definitely set the mood. The menu’s prices are fixed to $75 per person for a three-course meal or $95 ($150 with wine) for a tasting menu, which gives you a chance to try everything.

Now, to end your date with a cherry on top, head to Serendipity 3, New York’s first coffee house/boutique, is the ideal “after dinner site.”

Known for their frozen hot chocolate ($8.50), this dessert spot is every junk food lover’s dream. This sugar-filled eatery, located on 225 E. 60th St., reservations are necessary as a result of its increasing popularity in the metropolitan area. Satisfy your sweet tooth with ice cream sundaes (starting at $8.50) and banana splits (starting at $13.50). For more information, visit serendipity3.com
If wining and dining is not your ideal date, activities are ways to open up to your valentine and do what you enjoy. Take your date to Dave and Busters (Westbury Long Island, or Farmingdale Long Island) for a night of bowling and air hockey. Another romantic spot is ice skating at Rockefeller Center. This gives two people time to share some laughs and get to know one another without the “did I eat too much garlic” worries.

Although dating can be difficult, there are plenty of fun ways to make it easy and less stressful.
