Sorority Inquiry Finds No Evidence of Hazing
An internal investigation into a hazing complaint filed by a student who was pledging Lambda Phi sorority has found no evidence of hazing, according to Frank D. Savino, associate dean of Student Life.
“We investigated and found that there was no hazing involved,” he said.
The sorority was suspended while the investigation was being conducted but according to Savino, it has been reinstated.
However, Savino also said that other problems were uncovered during the investigation for which the sorority was punished. “During the investigation, we found other irregularities that did not amount to hazing, for which we have instated sanctions.”
Savino would not elaborate on the specific irregularities or the types of sanctions that have been levied.
Marlon Williams, Assistant Director of Judicial Affairs, said that he spoke with the young lady and Lambda Phi representatives to make sure that both were satisfied with the investigation. “The school is following up on it to make sure that both parties adhere to the recommendations made by this office.”
