Softball Signs Three Players For 2000 Season

Head Coach Melody Cope continues to stockpile talent for the St. John’s softball team. She has announced the signing of three recruits for the 2001 season.

Jillian Sandoval of Orange, Calif., Johanna Loughery of Markham, Ontario,Canada and Jessica Cameron of Girard, Ohio have signed letters of intent to attend St. John’s and play softball.

Sandoval is a catcher and also plays third base. This past summer she played with the Hot Stuff Gold Team in Southern California. She led the team to a 13th place finish at the 2000 Gold National Tournament in St. Louis, Mo.

Loughery and Cameron are both transfers from Briarcliffe Junior College. Last season they helped their team place ninth in the Junior College World Series. Loughery is a catcher and designated hitter and Cameron plays first base and the outfield.
