Three of a kind: Barretto, Brown, Sewell all winners

The St. John’s track and field team participated in the Lafayette-Rider Invitational at the 168th St. Armory this past weekend with three Red Storm team members winning their respective events.

Senior Jasmine Barreto achieved a personal best while winning the 800-meter run. Junior Kellie Brown was victorious in the long jump with a bound of 5.57 meters.

And Alecia Sewell ran to a victory in the 60 meter dash with a run of 7.68 seconds. All three women qualified for the Big East Championships with their wins.

Other notables are Thamara Cherisme and Kesheila Reid who qualified for the conference championships in the 500 meter run and the 20-pound weight throw, respectfully.

The Big East Championships will be held in Akron, Ohio next weekend.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

The St. John’s women’s tennis team fell to Princeton 5-0 Saturday afternoon. Doubles pair Barbora Blahutiakova and Mariana Chachua picked up the team’s lone win against Darcy Robertson and Joanna Roth (8-2). The Red Storm is 2-1 in non-conference play.
