Red Storm recognized with a slew of awards

BigAppleSoccer.com recently named women’s soccer forward Krystle Jalalian as player of the week. The honor comes after Jalalian notched three goals and two assists in a pair of victories last weekend. She also received the Big East Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week honors for her strong play.

In addition to Jalalian’s individual awards, the women’s soccer team also received a few votes in Tuesday’s NSCAA/Adidas Top 25 poll. The team will look to crack its way onto the national ranking scene after a 2-1 victory over Miami (Ohio) this weekend.

Red Storm Sports did not cap its prestigious week there, however, as the volleyball team ranked in at No. 23 this week by the CSTV/American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, staying on for the second week in a row thanks to its impressive record. It also ranked No. 24 last week in the pool. It is the second time in program history, and the first time in nearly a year, that St. John’s appeared in the Top 25.
