Slew of events planned for spring

Campus Activities has announced a host of events to commemorate the end of the semester.

Spring Fling 2008, set to take place on April 24 and 25, is being sponsored by various student organizations.

This year’s Spring Fling kicks off with “Fierce: Spring Fashion Show” on April 24 in Carnessecca Arena at 8:30 p.m.

Former “Project Runway” contestant, Michael Knight, has been announced as the event’s host. Spring Fling will continue the following day with a carnival on the great lawn at 1 p.m.

A portion of the ticket sales from the carnival will go towards poverty relief, said Damien Duchamp, director of Campus Activities.

A spring concert on April 25 at 8 p.m. in Carnessecca Arena will serve as the finale from the weekend of festivities.

This year’s musical event is titled “Radio Ready” and will feature R&B singer, Keyshia Cole, reggaeton artist, Notch and dancehall performer, Mr. Vegas.

Duchamp mentioned that there was a minor contract issue regarding lighting for Keyshia Cole, however, the director of Campus Activities assured that it would not be a problem.

“We have been complemented by the artists that come hear on how we take care of them,” he said. “We are very attentive to the demands in the contracts.”

He added, “We know the more comfortable they are, the better the performance will be.”
