SJU to Switch from StormSync to Engage for 2020-21 Academic Year

St. John’s will soon transition to a website called Engage, confirmed Jack Flynn, director of Student Conduct and advisor to Student Government Inc. (SGI). This new website will replace StormSync, the website student organizations and clubs use to store their information.

Flynn clarified in an email statement that Campus Labs, the software company that powers Engage, bought out OrgSync (which powers StormSync) last year. He also stated that the earliest the partnership can begin is in the 2020-21 academic year.

“This past year, SGI continued using StormSync for budget management through an agreement with Campus Labs,” Flynn said. “But starting next year (2019-20 academic year), SGI will instead use Engage, the budget management system supported by Campus Labs.”

During the SGI debate on April 2, now SGI Secretary Nnaemeka Ifeajekwu said that one of the P.R.I.D.E. ticket’s initiatives would be to start a session called, “Get to Know Involvio.” He said that this will help organization leaders learn how to use the new online services.

Involvio is a platform created by students in Philadelphia, who launched the tool “out of our frustration that keeping track of events happening on campus was just too hard,” according to their website. They are “laser focused on building tools that boost student engagement.”

Mirroring Ifeajekwu’s comments, Flynn added that, “In the coming months, SGI will work with Involvio to develop a budget management system to meet student needs.”
