Months after Avery Patterson and Ricky Torres declared that they would be transferring from St. John’s, Qa’rraan Calhoun announced on August 20 that he would be withdrawing from the University.
The announcement from the 6’8” forward came as a complete shock to many, and has left fans searching for a reason.
“Qa’rraan and his family have made the decision for him to transfer,” said coach Norm Roberts. “He leaves the team in good academic standing, and we wish him the best of luck with his decision.”
It is not yet clear what Calhoun’s future will be, however many have speculated him playing professional basketball in Europe, transferring to a Junior College, or transferring to Monmouth University. If Calhoun transferred to another Division I school, he would have to sit out one season as per NCAA regulations.
