SGI Approves New Candidate Requirement

Future executive board leaders of Student Government, Inc. will be required to have a 3.0 GPA, the voting members decided Monday. Any floor members of SGI will be required to have a 2.5 GPA.

An original motion for a 3.3 GPA for the executive board’s top four leaders (president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary) was originally rejected. Senators would have been required to have a 3.0 GPA, while floor members would still have to retain a 2.5.

There are currently no academic requirements for SGI members.

This comes as the Elections Committee announced applications for next year’s executive board will be available to fill out at midnight Monday.

Elections will be held on March 26 and 27, the Committee announced.  The candidates’ debate will be in the D’Angelo Center Living room on March 22.
